John-Paul Donovan, C.P.O. ABC Board Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist and President of AtlanticProCare.  John founded AtlanticProCare 16 years ago and has practiced here in Portland for over twenty years. John lives in Cumberland with his wife, Lorene, and two of his children--his third daughter has just begun her college career.

John received his degree from the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center and completed residencies at NOPCO at Boston Children's Hospital and in Portsmouth, NH. He has served as the chairman of the CAD-CAM Society of the American Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics and has been a guest lecturer at the University of New England.

Our welcoming and state-of-the-art facility has been a dream of John's for many years and he is actively involved in caring for patients day to day as well as running his business. During those rare times when he's not working, John enjoys being with his family and is actively involved in coaching sports.

Jerald has an extensive background in engineering and computer aided design and has also studied graphics, sculpture and pottery for over 30 years. Jerald was pre-med at Cornell University and graduated cum laude with a degree in Physics and Cognitive Studies. He is a guest lecturer at the University of New England's PhD Physical Therapy program.  In addition to seeing patients, Jerald is very involved in Research and Development--constantly working to bring new, patient-inspired solutions to reality.

"When I was a kid, my eyes weren't very good and eventually I wound up getting glasses.  I still remember one night when I was about 7 or 8 and I went outside on a clear, cold night and looked up with my glasses on--I was just stunned by all the stars, I had been seeing them but I had no idea how amazing they really were.  I really enjoy doing prosthetics and orthotics because I love fixing things and figuring out better ways to do things, but when I meet someone who doesn't even realize how much better things can be, what I really love is helping them see those stars."

Jerald lives in Gorham now because for some reason, several years ago, he sold his contemporary, super-insulated, solar home in Cornish and purchased a 100 year old farm house in Gorham. He and his wife, Colleen, love the romance of the elegant old farm and spend most (ok, all) of there free time on maintenance and staying warm in the winter. Jerald's eldest daughter has also just started college but he lives at the farm with his wife, 1 daughter, 4 cats, 1 dog, a rabbit (and a partridge in a pear tree).
